- The mother of Lillian and Dorothy Gish was born Mary Robinson McConnell
on 16th September 1876. In 1893, she married James
Leigh de Guiche but they were later separated after
the birth of Lillian and Dorothy. Mary pushed
hard for her daughters in films. She died 16th
September 1948.
